COMMENT This release is perhaps Premium's finest hour. It has since been release by Sabotage, however Premium were first to release it over a year before anyone else (albeit on cdr), so they deserve at least a little respect for the first released...no matter it appears slightly rushed.. Not only is the content from the various Celebration shows amazing, but these are exceptionally good audience recordings. The first disc concentrates on Sheila E's performance, which while being enjoyable, really holds no interest for me. The second disc begins with 'Power Fantastic' and 'Extraordinary'. Quite sneakily Premium have evidently tried to pass these tracks off as coming from the June 23rd (am) show, as they were performed - however the versions here are from the NPGMC soundcheck in New York (listed HERE) and are not from the Celebration. The 23rd June show on disc 2 started in the early hours of the morning, and is (with the exception of Pop Life) a very smooth piano-heavy set. The show contains some phenomenally rare tracks being performed, including a stunning version of 'Here On Earth' and a very mellow version of 'You've Got A Friend' with Sheila E singing a few lines. Disc 3 contains the performance from the evening of 23rd June, and includes a very lengthy version of 'Days Of Wild'. The crowd take over the main vocals for both 'Dolphin' and 'Sign O' The Times'. The final disc in this volume contains the amazing acoustic set from the 24th June show. Again not only is (pre-Musicology Tour) an acoustic set a rarity, but some of the choices are rather special, including very, very rare performances of 'Don't Play Me', 'The Truth', 'Tangerine' and 'She Loves Me 4 Me'. Overall this is my personal favourite volume of the 3 from Premium, although strangely enough there is no recording on any of the 3 volumes of Prince's 21st June 2002 show - it is however on the Sabotage release (listed HERE).
